Bill Hunter

one of the men in Ruby's apartment

Bill Hunter was one of three journalists who were allowed into Jack Ruby's apartment by his roommate George Senator following his killing of Lee Oswald. He wrote the book Three Days in Dallas. He died of an "accidental" discharge of a service revolver when visiting the Las Vegas Police Department.  This initial story was that the gun has been dropped and fired when it hit the floor.  This was later changed to say that the gun fired when two of the officers were horsing around with loaded guns.  In either case, the bullet found it's mark - Hunter's heart -  and he died on the scene.

Neither of the other two writers, Jim Koethe and Tom Howard lived much longer.
