John Kinzer was an army veteran who operated a miniature golf course. He had affairs with both Josepha Johnson and Andre Wallace – wife of Mac Wallace. While with Josepha Johnson he apparently heard tales of Lyndon Johnson's questionable activities. When he prevailed upon Josepha to ask Lyndon for a loan it was understood to be a blackmail attempt.

Mac Wallace walked into his office and handled the situation by perforating Kinzer's body multiple times, stopping when he ran out of bullets. Witnesses identified Wallace who was promptly arrested and subsequently convicted of first degree murder.

The judge sentenced him to five years in prison – then suspended the sentence. Such was the influence of Lyndon Johnson in Texas at the time.
