MKULTRA
the search for mind control

I guess there are things we shouldn't have done.
While in the early years of the Cold War CIA Director Allen Dulles continued his personal battle against those he saw as enemies those standing in the way of United States and American corporate interests. That was about the only measure of validity of any action.
During World War II, he dealt with various Nazi officers and officials to gain knowledge and, as much as possible, look after his pre-war clients at Sullivan and Cromwell. In fact, though he was working against them, Dulles admired the the driven efficiency of the Nazi mindset.
Because of this admiration, ignoring presidential directives he worked to help some of the worst mad scientists of the concentration camps escape the hangman's noose and find their way out of the Nuremberg courtroom and into United States laboratories.
They joined our own group of home grown morally ambiguous practitioners. Because the Soviet bear appeared so fearsome to the Dulles , the idea of allowing the normal sensitivities of the Judaeo-Christian culture was not part of his mind set. Whatever got the results he desired provided it's own justification for use.
This was the philosophy of the MLULTRA program that grew out of Project Artichoke. It was also the reason he had no problem dealing with Nazi scientists who were versed in information extraction techniques even if they proved to be fatal.
The mind control objectives advanced from information extraction to bringing the subject to follow instructions to do actions that they would not normally do... such as perform assassinations and have no memory of it after it was accomplished. If they were successful, Sirhan Sirhan could be a primary example as he still claims no memory of the Robert Kennedy shooting.
One of the early participants in the program was hypnotist, William Bryan, who experimented with how far the subject could be pushed do deviate from their own will. He was succeeded by Jolly West who used various combinations of hypnotism and drugs in his experiments. West was the psychiatrist to evaluated Jack Ruby, and when he was finished Ruby, had a psychotic break and was hiding under his bed thinking people were coming to get him because he was a Jew. At that point the Warren Commission decided he was no longer a reliable source of information.
Then there was the Midnight Climax program that took place in San Francisco where prostitutes were recruited to bring their clients to a room with a two way mirror so government agents could sit in the next room and watch as the men were dosed with LSD in an effort to see if they could be induced to give out information they would not normally reveal.
Other experiments were conducted with the hippie community in the city. Jolly West's fascination with hypnotism and drugs – primarily LSD – led him to establish a “hippie crash pad” in a decaying house near the Haight Ashbury Free Clinic – where he secured a small office I the facility. Charles Manson and his girls were frequent visitors at the clinic. Somewhere Manson acquired the ability to assert almost total control over his family members. Many found it unusual that he was often arrested for various crimes but never was held for more than a day or two and his parole was never revoked.
When Alan Scheflin, who was a forensic pathologist and law professor who wrote about MKULTRA experiments was asked if he believed the Manson family's Tate-LaBianca murders were the result of a CIA experiment gone wrong, he responded. “No, it was an experiment gone right.” Relatively normal American young people searching for their way in life were turned into remorseless killers who acted on the will of a single leader.
It should be noted that Unibomber Ted Kazinsky was also one of the patients that went through the free clinic.
Much of material for these experiments came from Sydney Gottlieb – known as the black sorcerer. He had a fascination with both LSD and the development of undetectable poisons... and he had no aversion to testing or using them.
Judyth Baker tells the story of how she and Lee Oswald were driven to a psychiatric hospital by Clay Shaw. She was the biochemist and Oswald had developed the ability to safely handle this material that, when injected, would bring about death by cancer in less than a month. She writes that after an hour some of the patients would already be displaying symptoms.
Books have been written about all the experiments and the devastating effects they had on subjects who were unaware of the real purpose of the treatments they received. Through grants given by CIA front organizations, universities and hospitals were included in the tests. Some of the darker goings on were performed overseas at CIA “black sites” like the one in Germany where they held Soviet prisoners, criminals and other “expendables”... with the instructions that body disposal would not be problem.
It was during a visit to this facility that caused Frank Olson to question the morality of what he was doing in developing methods of aerosol distribution of toxins. As a short time later he, and several other scientists were at a retreat with Sydney Gottlieb. On the second night Gottlieb announce to the scientists that they had just been dosed with LSD as part of an experiment.
Olson did not handle the well and increased his conviction that he needed get out of this work. He became more unstable and was deemed a danger to the security of the program. A few days later when he was taken to New York City to see a company psychiatrist, he plummeted to his death from the ten floor of the Statler Hotel.
When it looked liked there was going to be an investigation, all the records for MKULTRA were destroyed – or so they thought. Accounting records were missed and led investigators to delve into the program. Much of the details were lost but there was enough to look into universities and hospitals that took part and get a reasonably good idea of what was done.
MKULTRA was officially disbanded in the 70s we are told.
The closest thing to an apology came, in his later years, when confronted by the family about Frank Olson's death, Sydney Gottlieb guessed they did some things they shouldn't have done.

The MKULTRA Secret: An account of CIA deception
by Frank Camper
There was nothing more secret than CIA's mind control program, MKULTRA. A large amount of direct and circumstantial all evidence point to Lee Oswald as the patsy in the JFK assassination. As Alex Hidell he was an MKULTRA secret and didn't even know it.

Project MK-Ultra and Mind Control Technology: A Compilation of Patents and Reports
by Axel Balthazar
People around the world claim to be victims of mind control technology. Medical professionals are quick to marginalize these targeted individuals and diagnose them with mental illness. Unfortunately, most people are oblivious to the historical precedent for the practice of mind control and the patented technology that exists in the field. This book includes a compilation of the government's documentation on MK-Ultra, the CIA's mind control experimentation on unwitting human subjects; all documentation on this program was ordered destroyed by CIA Director Richard Helms in 1973, but a cache of records survived and were made public through a Freedom of Information Act request in 1977. It also contains over 150 patents pertaining to a wide variety of subjects: artificial telepathy (voice-to-skull technology), behavior modification through radio frequencies, directed energy weapons, electronic monitoring, implantable nanotechnology, brain wave manipulation, nervous system manipulation, neuroweapons, psychological warfare, satellite terrorism, subliminal messaging, and more. A must-have reference guide for targeted individuals and anyone interested in the subject of mind control technology.
