Rose Cherami *
drug courier

Rose Cherami was born Melba Christine Marcades. Her path through life led her to many contacts with police. Among her activities was a time working for Jack Ruby as a stripper. From her time at the Carousel Club, she saw Lee Oswald from time to time. She believed that he had a homosexual relationship with Ruby.
On November 20, 1963 she was on the road to Texas with two gangsters to deliver some recreational pharmaceuticals. They stopped along the road at a bar named the Silver Slipper. Apparently a dispute arose and she was given the boot out the door. It may have been the alcohol or just bad luck that she was struck by a car.
Louisiana State Police Lt Francis Fruge came upon her along the road near Eunice, LA. He took her to get the needed medical attention. While the doctors were treating her, she told the doctors and Lt Fruge that President Kennedy was about to be killed. Apparently the did not take her alcohol addled ramblings too seriously.
Not quite a year later, on September 4 she was struck again... this time fatally as her skull was crushed. Some believe this was done to disguise the fact that she had been shot in the head.
Rose Cherami was played by Sally Kirkland in the JFK film.

A Rose by Many Other Names: Rose Cherami & the JFK Assassination
by Todd C. Elliott
Shifting the focus away from the assassination of John F. Kennedy in Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas, to 48 hours prior in Eunice, Louisiana, this book explores the prediction made by Melba Marcades, aka Rose Cherami, that the president would be assassinated on Friday, November 22, 1963 in Dallas. Discounting clairvoyance, the book investigates the possibility that Rose had inside information about the assassination. However, Rose Cherami was not a credible witness: she was a prostitute, a one-time performer in Jack Ruby's Carousel Club, an admitted drug trafficker, a drug addict, and a car thief. But the author’s research reveals glaring omissions in her FBI files, questionable admissions regarding her criminal history, and the dubious details of her untimely demise. This book sheds new light on a relatively unknown footnote of the JFK conspiracy theory.
