The Texas School Book Depository building was owned by Texas oil man and Civil Air Patrol founder, DH Byrd. It is reported that following the investigation, he had the sixth floor window replaced, taking the original to his home and displaying it like a trophy.

On the day of the assassination, the electricity and telephone lines were cut off a few minutes before the motorcade passed by. It is not clear why this was done. No steps were taken to secure the building for an hour after the shooting... and then it was just the front door and one of the four rear entrances.

The sixth floor now houses the Sixth Floor Museum, dedicated to promoting the official account that Oswald was the lone shooter. Even so it may be worth the price of admission.
